Rep. Lowenthal Statement on Afghan President Karzai's Remarks

Congressman Alan Lowenthal released the following statement today in response to comments made Sunday by Afghan President Hamid Karzai:

“When unprovoked and illogical remarks are shouted at us, we should not shout back; our commitment to peaceful diplomacy deserves more thoughtful and purposive cooperation than what we heard yesterday. Despite such political rhetoric from President Karzai, I am optimistic that he remains committed to working with the international community to build a peaceful Afghanistan for his people.”

Congressman Lowenthal is a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, which is part of the legislative oversight of United States foreign policy.
